Hi guys, we just flew in with Etihad two days ago. We chose them because they were far cheaper than anyone else and accepted the 20kg allowance. On arrival at the airport they explained we had 30 kgs because we were emigrating!
We had spent the prior three days packing and unpacking our suitcases to avoid extra baggage allowance. We have since checked the web page and there is no mention of this. If anyone else is choosing Etihad send them an email before going to clarify your extra allowance, it would have come in handy if we had known.

Thanks for the tip, I have also been looking at these for hubby's flight, I will definitely be asking about the weight.
Had you already validated your visa's? this may make a difference to hubby!

Hi This was our emigration trip and we hadn't validated before coming. And yes it was via Abu Dhabi.

what we don't quite understand is when we booked we asked about extra weight and was told no. It was only on arrival at the airport when checking in we were told we had the extra 10kgs.

I'd never heard of them before, but will have a look. We're flying out end of Oct, the shippers are in at the moment!
