Ethanol subsidy 'will hurt industry'
I have information I cannot pass on on about this but if you buy an older car in Australia ask the petrol station how much of this crap is added to your fuel if its 10% or less thats fine but above that beware you are in for trouble.
The sugar cane producers have used their pull with the National party to dump unwanted production .
THE Federal Government's latest subsidy for the ethanol industry is likely to distort the nation's grains market and cost rural jobs, Labor warned today.
Opposition primary industries spokesman Kerry O'Brien said the feed grain market was now under increasing pressure because of government policy and the drought.
The government has brought forward $10 million in assistance for ethanol producers to help them adapt to new fuel environmental standards.
Most of Australia's ethanol is produced by the Manildra Group, and is derived largely from grain.

There are many forces at play. The most significant is corruption of the international sugar market by Europe and the US domestic sugar subsidies, import quotas and tariffs. If they did not exist, the farmers, who have substantial investments in sugar, would not have a leg to stand on regarding any form of transitional assistance from the Aus government.
Nth Qld farmers hoping for a sweet cornucopia
