ETA question, possibly for Mr. Lombard??
 

Hello all

Here is my question--

I am married to an Australian citizen, and we currently live in the states. I have an ETA valid until next May. If I go to Australia on this visa, can I apply onshore for a spousal visa once I am in the country?

How do I know if I have condition 8503 on my ETA? Can I go directly from an ETA to applying for the spousal visa with no worries? (Once I am in the country?). Is this risky?

I have read other posting but most seemed to be about prospective spouse visas, etc, not already married...

Hi Katpash,

If you hold an ETA you have no difficulty. Anyone subject to an 8503 condition needs
to sign a statement beforehand, and afaik without checking the legislation it isn't
possible for an ETA to have an 8503. Glad to be corrected if necessary.
