Hi MrsE

Four of the largest real estate agents in Australia, with offices around the country are:

Ray White: http://www.raywhite.com/
Raine and Horne: http://www.raineandhorne.com.au/
L J Hooker: http://www.ljhooker.com.au/
The Professionals: http://www.professionals.com.au/

If you'd like to do a little research yourself, you could log on to www.realestate.com.au, or www.domain.com.au to get an idea of property prices - purchase or rental - in the areas you're interested in.

Best regards
Susan

I bought a house from a guy called John, he was pretty good. I rented a place from someone called Michelle, she wasn't bad either.

We have had dealings with Port City in Fremantle - got our rental from there and couldnt fault them, deposit back in full and promptly as well.

We bought our house from LJ Hooker, the manager of this particular branch is a really nice guy and we still keep in touch with him as well.

You're going the learn the Aussie RA model. They are mostly chains, but each agent in each office is independent, so they will only show you their houses, even if there is a better house in the same office, let alone the office in the next surburb.

Houses will have open house events every few weeks, and you're better off going to a few of these to get the feeling for house design and surburb. It can be that each house is different in the street, or in the newer estates each owner will have a choice of 10 basic designs. You can get 480m2 blocks, and in the next street 4000m2 blocks ( yup you're have to learn about block size and squares )

Read the free weekly property papers or use http://www.realestate.com.au/ which is the main property portal to find the property you want. The real shock will the fees when you come to sell

And the real estate industry will also tell you that due to massive population growth (dodgy interpretation), if you do not get in now you will miss out.... but one could assume apps for migration, study, WHVs, 457s etc. are dropping fast, while baby boomers and older are retiring, moving to retirment villages and downsizing....

Have yet to see good objective real estate data.... almost all media articles are direct from real estate industry because they just happen to be some of the biggest advertisers.....

As someone said on here once, "Spruiking a Ponzi scheme"
