Estate Agent Fees
Hey kids,
Hope someone can help. I'm fed up of trawling google to find this out with no luck.
Can anyone give me an indication of estate agent fees - for selling in the UK (I know I shoud know this - for those that have sold recently - how much did it cost, agents, lawyers etc).
And... What are the average perchase fees (percentages) in Oz ?
Putting house on market in the next month or so - just doing my sums so I know what I'm looking at in Oz.
Ta muchly.

Hello,
We negotiated a set fee with estate agent (£1400 which was cheaper than their advertised percentage rate) and are paying £500 solicitors fee for sale only(plus VAT) I think we could have got a better deal on solicitors but chose local office due to convenience for access.

Greens estate agent, I've no idea if they're Midlands only but I've used them twice now and find them extremely helpful and worth every penny (they go above and beyond and do all the chasing and co-ordinating that you usually do yourself).
Def. worth bargaining over fee though.

Don't think they are in Southampton, but either way I'll bargain someone down - don't like the idea of paying some spotty teenager 3k + for little/no work.

Main cost is stamp duty, you can get rates here: http://www.yourmortgage.com.au/calculators/stamp_duty/
Just enter the purchase price, and the mortgage amount, and it gives the Stamp Duty for each state. QLD is cheapest.
Then add about $1,000 for conveyancer.
