My wife has a cousin who lives in Esperance and she is due to call her tomorrow. Would be happy to ask and drop you a response. For what it's worth my wife loves Esperance and is planning to take our kids over there in a few weeks time - we've just moved to Melbourne.
Cheers,
Colin

Steve has just finished his pgce and is looking for his first teaching post, we need six months work experience before we can apply as we were hoping to go on 139 but that finishes in July and as some say sooner...but the waiting to even apply is Horrible

Re: Esperance??
How old are your kids?
I would think it'd be an ok place to live with younger kids, but it's not that big, and quite remote, so teenagers would maybe/probably get bored, and also would probably go to Perth to go to Uni....
Don't know anything about the town itself, but I'm sure they have a website www.esperence.wa.gov.au maybe? that would have on it if there's sports centres etc.
