Default Equivalent to John Lewis in Melbourne?

Is there an equivalent to John Lewis in Melbourne, in terms of stock available and price range?

I will be looking to live near Domain Road in South Yarra, and will not have a car initially, so I'm looking for local department stores and shops to source things like kitchen utensils, bed linen, etc.

Any recommendations highly welcome.

I'd say David Jones or Myer in Bourke Street. That's one tram ride from Domain Road.

Yes DJs would be the nearest - or tho still a long way short of John Lewis.

Another option:
Peter's of Kensington | Why would you shop anywhere else?
Delivered to your door.

DJ, Myers and Peter's all look like great options, thank you both.

Still not sure how I will get by without access to M&S Foods though...

Don't fret about MS: this is not going to help you.
;-)

If anything DJs stocks goods that are higher up the pecking order than John Lewis: perhaps not the range.

Myer can be hit and miss and prob nearest equivalent. ..not quite as good as John Lewis.

John Lewis might have better range. Still, I am no shop expert...

I see absolutely no difference between Myers, DJ and JL. Even the bags look about the same. Disclaimer: 9 years since I've been in a JL.

Of course this is what John Lewis would be in Melbourne:

Haha but I do fret; my cooking skills are very limited, and I'm pretty much reliant on M&S!

Coles = Waitrose. Err no, definitely not. There is nothing equivalent to M&S, you just have to get used to new shops and new range of products. And maybe learn to cook. The Heston range in Coles doesn't look that good and is insanely expensive.

Yes I was being facetious ... Definitely need to improve on my cooking skills.
