IT Equipment

Can anyone help. We will be moving to Perth around Oct/Nov this year and I was wondering if we can take our IT equipment with us - (hubby is an IT geek) we have 4 pcs, printers, scanners and a fax machine - will they work over in OZ?

to answer your question YES all your electrical gear works in australia its the same as the UK 240V 50Hz so no problems at all you can also bring all your appliances with you the TV may not work but every thing else will i can assure you.

IT geek , and only 4 computers ;)

My wife made me get rid of the 8 in the loft, as above everything should work, but there maybe an issue with faxes, telephones and tv depending on the standards and connectors.

datamile; the fax will work seeming it works on a 19,000 Khz frequency same as the UK. TV's thats hit and miss telephones can be converted but its not worth the bloody trouble doing it for the time consumed i would rather just get new phones.

You will need to change over the fax->BT skt cable to a fax->oz phone socket cable but that should hopefully work first time. Most stuff [modems, faxes] uses a standard RJ11 connection at the equipment end, but as The_Pom_From_Aus points out, phones often won't work due to differing connections.

p.s. only 4 computers and he calls himself a geek ??? You never have too many...[can't say my wife agrees however...]
