Default Environmental Engineering + H&S

Hi - apologies first of all for being a bit tiddly and hence incoherent....
Does anyone know what the prospects are of getting a job in Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Engineering? What's the typical good salary for this? Is it likely that we'll have to end up in Karlgoorlie? :scared: :scared: :scared:

Hi If Oz is going the same way as UK I would think your in on the ground floor with job in H&S. Kalgoorie is big in Mining so brush up your under ground knowledge.Me I,m up to here :scared: in Risk assessment,PPE,COSHH,stress councilors,Hazards, near misses etc,etc Yes i know its for my own safety but does seem my employer is covering his backside if anything goes wrong i.e. where is the risk assessment before you changed the washer and 2 tons of masonary fell on your head in the ladies loo,and you were not wearing a hard hat. Environmental issues are not such a big thing in Aus, nowhere near as much as here anyway. My brother-in-law has lived in Brisbane for ten years, and very well qualified in this field, but always seems to be doing 'alternative' jobs.

Most risk assessments, method statements, COSHH and all the other H & S bollox is, as you say, primarily to protect the employer. They don't really give a stuff about the employees, they are just scared stiff of litigation, which as we become more Americanised has gone stark raving mad.
