Default Entitlements on 136? (pregnancy, newborns)

Hi all,

Over in Australia now and we've just found out were having our first child, due on new years eve!

I've heard that the goverment helps out with new born children, just wondering if we will be entitled to this as were only residents.

We have'nt even see a doctor yet over here and we still need to register with medicare

Anyone thats being through this? we are on the goldcoast.

Thanks Chris + Pam

1. As permanent residents, you are entitled to benefits like baby bonus (you are excluded from some benefits for 2 years, but not the ones relating to childbirth).

2. You are entitled to Medicare

3. Your child will be an Australian citizen but you should obtain proof of this to avoid hassle later on. Form 119:
