Hi there, could somebody let me know if the ielts english exams are crucial in getting your oz perm resident visa??
My girlfriend and i are both english and in our 20's, i'm applying for a skilled independant visa.

Please Help.

If my memory serves me correctly, if you are English you don't need to do an english test providing english is your first language and i would presume it is!
Someone else will be able to confirm this i'm sure. I certainly didnt do any test.

No - didnt do one with my application. My agent advised me that since we're British by birth and have English as a first language it was not necessary.

Look on the bright side - one less thing to worry about

Its only if you are from a non English speaking country. ie. Lets say Thailand. My wife is Thai and speaks great English. But she may or may not have to sit a test. She wants to. Aparently non English speakers get free English lessons in OZ. Not That she needs them. Also at the moment I'm an English Teacher in LOS(Land of Smiles)..
