Engineering work in Sydney
My work experience is, in the majority, in the brewing industry and since arriving in Australia, the poultry industry, carrying out maintenance on plant equipment and over the last 18 months in a supervisory, management role.
If we were to look at Sydney, what areas should we be looking at for both work and renting? What sort of companies are out there? Oz seems to be mainly about mining, but have no experience of that industry and don't really fancy FIFO, mega shifts or whatever. I've got a family I'd like to see grow up. Any help appreciated. |

Could also try Weston Milling in Enfield - they are the large flour and feed miller. No promisses, but if you want to PM an e-mail address, I will send you our company details and you could send us your CV. Our company designs, builds and maintains the plants used by all of the above and we are based in Sydney. |
Re: Engineering work in Sydney
Yeah, I will do later, thanks. At a monster truck show just now!
With Ludcombe and Enfield, I'll need to have a look later and see where they are as I don't know the geographica of Sydney yet. |

Thanks Red_V_Roger. This is all very helpful as I'm not aware what large (e.g. Kelloggs) companies are in Sydney. The more, the merrier! :)
Will be in contact today. |

Re: Engineering work in Sydney
PM sent Red_V_Roger.
I've still to look up those areas that Red_V_Roger mentioned above (am looking now), but are the majority of manufacturing facilities in the North, South, etc? or are they scattered all over the place? Where I am just now (Adelaide), the industry is mainly in the North side of the city with few in the South, so we really need to home in on where we should be looking to live in relation to work (if that's possible). No point in renting somewhere only to find that travelling is going to take up most of the day to get to work! |

You might get some useful info and contacts from becoming a member of the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology, which has an employment section and other info, http://www.aifst.asn.au/templates/ai...spx?pageID=317.

The manufacturing sites are pretty much all over the place and yes, you wouldn't want to get a job in the north and live in the south etc....too much travel. |
