Default Energex

What is a normal Energex bill?
We just got our 3 month bill for $581.30 (Tariff 31 for water, the rest on 11).
Is that average?
Scary stuff!

Don't know what the average is. Our bill was a bit less, $480 for 3 months. We had the air-conditioners on a lot in December and January. There are 2 of us plus a dog in the house. My inlaws were here for 6 weeks during the 3 month period, but I don't think the bill would've been too different. The next bill should be a lot smaller for us as we enter autumn.

Cheers,
Mrs JTL

My last bills have been :
Mar-03 $277.00
Jun-03 $267.35
Sep-03 $264.05
Dec-03 $344.40
Mar-04 $291.20
Jun-04 $312.30
Sep-04 $301.70
Dec-04 $376.50

I hadn't noticed the latest one had gone up so much more than average. But we have used the air con more than usual this last qtr.

22% of usage, but 15% of cost is the tariff 33 water, the rest is tariff 11.

The above totals include the $22/23 ambulance levy.

Ouch!
Mine sounds excessive then!
We only have 2 small ac units in two of the bedrooms and they are not used that much.

Do you have a dryer? Dishwasher? Electric oven/stove? Washing machine that heats the water? Those are the sorts of things that use power big time, anything with a heating element.

Plus things that run long term (even if they dont draw much current). Things like swimming pool filters etc.

Our typical bill is $400-500, so you arent alone.

Shares in Energex anyone?

Bring back washboards I say.
Women have it too easy nowadays.
Time they went back to real work.
