Well I have been here 6 weeks and after 2 weeks I was working. But only as I had dug around before flying out and got a good contact.
When you start looking make sure you have a copy of your visa on your CV. Especially if you are going to be a perm resident as employers sometimes dont believe you until you prove it.
The job market at the mo is a bit slow, but people are talking about it getting a bit better towards the end of the year. But it all depends on your skills and experience. There are quite a lot of jobs out there but the salary is nothing, but it would be a start in the country.
I was willing to work anywhere, bar or on a building site to get started..
