Default Employment

We’re serious about emigrating to OZ and so I guess it’s sensible to ask the following of anyone who has had experience of recently moving over.

I’m VB.NET programmer (IT) and my wife is a teaching assistant (not a teacher).

We don’t anticipate to secure the same income as the UK however, is it an unfair question to ask if I’d struggle to find work. Perhaps put another way, what’s the IT jobs market like?
We’re interested in the following areas:
Perth
Melbourne
Adelaide
Tasmania
Sydney
