Emirates - GBP instead of AUD
 

Has anyone stumbled upon this situation?

We basically have all our money stuck in the UK. We are going back for a holiday in November, when it comes to booking and starting the journey in Brisbane, the Emirates website defaults to AUD. The flights are $4500, which is just over 3000 GBP. The 'same' flight starting in the UK and going to Brisbane is only 2100 GBP. So, ideally we want to pay for the flights in GBP without having to convert to AUD.

I'm guessing there is no way around this? 900 pounds is a big saving, so thought it was worth asking the question...

It's not the 'same' flight though. No, there is no way to pay the UK market fare if starting the journey in Aus.

the only way to do this would be to take a hit and get a one way from here and then book all returns (valid for 12 months) from there.

Obviously this means going back to the UK once a year, but I personally have no problem with that.

Hi Guys,

I did just that due to the cost of booking flights home from here in Aus. I used Expedia Uk and booked my trip starting in Aus and paid for it in UK £... Worked fine for me and saved quite a few $$$'s... You can also pay on a credit card but get charged a conversion fee..

UK to OZ 1030 GBP

OZ to UK 1683 GBP

There's nothing to stop you doing that, but all you pay is the A$ price converted into GBP.

Hi Mate,
Its The fare basis for UK and Au are difference you cannot travel on ticket issued in GBP ifthe journey starts AU. you will be liable to pay Difference of fare and penalty. you might end up with Denied Boarding and a VOID Ticket.

Is it even possible to ticket this arrangement in the first place though? I don't think it is...don't think any TA, online or otherwise would attempt it.

You'd have to fly coupons in the wrong order, which as you say, would attract revenue management's attention, if it was even possible.

You cannot use coupons in wrong order this is an e ticket the emirates system wont accept and issue the BP at checkin.

e.g. KHI DXB JFK J Class return fare: Au 2500
DXb JFK J Class Redurn Fare : AU6111

if i am in dxb i cannot issue a ticket on Pakistan fare basis and start my journey out of sequence from dubai and let go the KHI DXB segment.
its all dependent on Revenue Department and demand and supply of the the perticular sector...
