Default Electronic Technician in Western Australia

Hello Senior members,
I am a qualified electronic technician coming to Regional Western Australia on state sponsorship from Pakistan. Your guidance on the following issues will be highly appretiated:
1. Which regions or cities will be the best for me at regional WA.
2. what sectors should I explore after moving to WA.
3. What will be steps for me to get electrical license.

Regards,

Muhammad Tayyab,
Islamabad.

Hi Muhammad,

I can't help you out about WA, but you may not be issued an electrical workers license with an electronics qualification. You need to check here - http://www.commerce.wa.gov.au/energy...Licensing.html

Dear Old.Sparkle,
Thank you for a reply. I have visited a number of sites. It seems 'Electrical Fitter' trade best suits me. There is a fact sheet on energy safety WA about Electrical/ Electronics trade that they are eligible for 'Electrical Fitter'.
I have a successful outcome from TRA as 'Electronic Engineering Technician' [312412].
Can you please guide me now.

For an Electrical Fitters license you will need an ARTC as an Electrical Fitter. You can only apply for an ARTC when you are living in Australia - information is on the TRA site. I've had a search around WA site to see if they offer an Instrumentation license or similar, but can't see anything. Your best bet is to contact them directly.

Dear Old.sparkles,
Thanks a lot for your help & support. Firstly I will study the guides & forms of ARTC. If it is relevent to me , will start to prepaire the documentation. and as soon as I reach WA I will apply for ARTC. Is this ok.
Can you please guide me which city will be bet for me & my family to work & live other than Perth.

Muhammad TAYYAB,
Pakistan.

I would check with WA incase they have a suitable license first while you are waiting to move. What type of work do you normally do?

I have worked in these areas:

1. PCB design using Protel99SE & Altium designer.
2. Manufacturing machine maintenance.
3. Operation & maintenance of PLC based machines.
4. Soldering & desoldering on pcb circuits.
5. Product cost estimation & configurations management.
6. Testing & stuffing of RF & electronic circuits.
7. Surface mount technology (SMT) machine operator.

What you suggest me now.

I don't think you would need an electrical license for that work. I would check with the licensing board, but a quick search on seek for electronics tech jobs doesn't give any where an electrical license is being asked for.
