Electronic gadgets
Hi all,
Here in India all the electrical/electronic appliances run on 220 volts.
Can I take my stuff from here to Oz while immigrating?
Will they work?
Would I be required to pay customs duty on my stuff like VCD player and Camcorder?
Would surely appreciate experiences anyone has had at the customs.
Thanks

If they're 220 volts they should work, however you may need to buy adaptors in
Australia (quite cheap, about A$10 each) to plug them into Australian sockets.

Not if you've owned them for 12 months or more. If it's less than 12 months, you
should declare them, but Customs may or may not assess you for duty.

Re: Electronic gadgets
Just tell the truth. Customs aren't fools, they can alwayd find out how old a piece
of equipment is by looking at model type, serial number etc if they really want to.
