Default Electricians in Brisbane

Hi all. Earlier tonight we had a call from a guy based in Brisbane regarding electricians jobs. Apparently there is a big leisure/catering development being done and we just wanted to know if anyone knew what this was. Also if there seemed to be a lot of sparkies jobs around. Sorry i know this has been asked a lot lately but he said he could get jobs sorted out no problem. We are meant to be heading to Sydney but trying to get ideas of where there is plenty of work is hard. Cheers.

Don't know about this company or project in brisbanebut here on the Gold Coast I know quite a few sparkies who say Queensland licencing is a nightmare, and its taking them ages to get the licence to do any kind of electrical work. One just around the corner from us is returning to the UK because hes fed up with no work and waiting for a license. If you work for a large co I believe you can work under their licence but most want a licence so you might find it harder to get on in QLD than some other states.

One idea is to go to Sydney and get a licence there then you can transfer this to a QLD one in a few weeks or I would visit both places and see what jobs you get offered as a lot of tradies struggle when they come over to QLD. Certainly here on the GC I've met plumbers, sparkies and builders who are not working in their trade because of the QLD licencing rules/red tape which takes a lot of time.

This is a consequence of strong unions which run this country & governments (federal & state) that don't want to rock the boat & let this shit happen.

Welcome to socialism at it's best.

The Aussie Outback Experience is an evening entertainment show due to open in April 2006, for a list of job vacancies see http://www.outbackspectacular.com.au...employment.cfm

Could also try some employment agencies that deal with trades people for example www.skilled.com.au Also in the GC Bulletin this last weekend an agency was asking for electricians to work for UK qualified sparks here on the GC tel Chris at workpac 00 61 75556 2222( + 10 hrs from UK!!) They could maybe advise u and tell u more about work in brissie too.

From the short time I've been here on the GC would say its hard to get any job, certainly harder than brissie, and a lot, lot harder than sydney/melbourne so many people here on holiday and then want to live here, but its a great place to live so best of luck.

Thanks for that. I have noticed a few posts about the licencing rules. It sounds like a nightmare. I thought id just ask because the guy seemed to think he could get him a job no problem.

Cheers.
