How far can you go to getting the actual licence? i was under the impression that you could apply to the energy safety office, but the TRA (for the ARTC) would not entertain applications from outside oz.
Cheers

well i will know if i got electrical workers licence next weds just applied to energy safety office with same stuff as what i applied to tra, i have to sit a practical and theory exam when i get to oz, but if i get electrical workers licence i can work as soon as i get there, although under supervision, until i have passed exams then i will b given grade A electrical lisence.
just apply to energy safety office theres an application form you can download and fill in and send it with all your bumf, saves a lot of time , takes about 7-8 weeks for them to decide if you can have a lisence, hope this helps

Hi, just read your message my hubby is an electrician (City & Guilds 236, 2391, 16th edi etc) & we are hoping to be in Perth sometime next year. Would really appreciate any info on how he can apply for his electrical licence before we get there (passed the TRA bit) & any other sparky info would be great :D

Many thanks

:)

no probs, the website for the energy safety is www.energysafety.wa.gov.au there u can download an application form called " application for an "A" grade electrical workers licence- qualifications gained overseas "
there is an e-mail address there also u can e-mail any questions, and they do answer.
I reckon it will save you 2 months when u get to oz
if u wait till u get there it takes 2 months to get an answer
I have applied while iam still here in england and will get the results next week.

basically its a repeat of ur TRA application u gotta prove u have done an apprenticeship and got experience, or a JIB card, if u do all this u dont need to wait for a artc which u can only apply for when u get to oz,

hope this helps seems a bit complecated but it does save time in the end, well u gotta have something to do while u wait for DIMIA to make a desicion :) :) :)
