Default The easy way to get back to UK right now.

Any folks who are needing to get back to the UK in a rush will ike this one. Just been looking to see how easy is to get back to the UK should the current situation stay the same and here's one option which should be fine and has availability.

Air China from Sydney - Madrid 21/04 $1235

Madrid - Bilbao by coach $50 with ALSA

Bilbao - Portsmouth $240 25/04 with P&O

Total cost $1525 (which is quite reasonable i thought)

Hope this helps someone!

The quick answer at the mo is there is no easy way. The navy managed to squeeze on 200 tourists today in Santander along with military personnel. Not many compared to the thousands stranded.

If you don't have a ticket you don't get on. Some more should get on a ship tomorrow, its a bloody nightmare. Thank god we stayed home for Easter!!

Like i said, it's the easy way....better than waiting around for a navy ship to then be cramped up in a steel room for 3 days.

Two hundred civilians managed to get on that navy ship. No more were accepted and it sailed at 13:30ish today. I videoed it leaving port.

Brittany Ferries are allowing an extra 200 people on tomorrow's (Wed 21st April 2010) ferry. We are booked on that one which docks in Portsmouth Thursday pm.

I think the easiest way back to the UK is to hop on a flight from SYD/MEL/PER/ADL etc to LHR.

You are kind of missing the whole point of thread, when the UK is covered by ash, which its likely to be again soon then thats just not possible.

LOL, we're just keeping the riff-raff out. If you can't find you're own way back into the country, you fail the test.
