What do you expect in Brisbane where the average IQ is low, the driving test is very easy to pass and the drinking culture is the norm.

Population of Queensland: 4,560,059, and it is now 239 drink drivers over 3 days of Easter, out of 44,664 tested = 44,425 drivers that were NOT drunk.
The worst areas appear to be Boondall, Manunda and Townsville. Brisbane isn't mentioned.
But 10,883 caught speeding.
Drink Driving Limits
Drunk Driving in Australia is over 0.5
Drunk Driving in Ireland is over 0.5

3 of the same Drinks in UK, and you are NOT legally drunk (0.75 BAC)
Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) Limits Worldwide
72 Countries have Drink Driving limits of 0.5 or less
16 Countries have Drink Driving limits of 0.8

Easter driving was better in Queensland in 2014, compared to 2013.
25% less fatalities
30% less Injury Traffic Incidents
39% Less Injuries
But a 21% increase on Speed Camera detected offences
and a massive increase on initial results of Drug Driving Roadside positive tests.

I think the speeding offences need to be detailed a bit more. I don't defend it but I'd like to know more about time if day, type of road, how far over the limit, how many more money sucking cameras are operational, age groups etc.

Good to see an improvement on the drink driving stats. I'd say ban anyone immediately from driving for at least 6months if they are over the limit.

type of road? Any road where the normal driving is clear and fast, and just after speed reductions signs....
I agree with the ban if they are say over 0.8 BAC. The 0.5 limit is a bit low, for a ban. They need them back on the road to get caught again and get fined again..

how far over the limit ? I think it begins at 1kph over the limit, or is it the more generous 3 ?

I think the current alcohol limit should be 0. I believe those getting caught on much higher than that accept that there is a small penalty for just being over and believe they will or might just make it below or just above meaning no real harm. Does anyone need to drive with any amount of alcohol in their system? Make it zero and I think people will not take as much of a chance.

Re: Easter in QLD: 92 drivers charged with drink driving in 2 days
The full stats won't be available for some months, but I agree, they would be interesting (to some..)
Drink and driving ? Zero limit ? hmmm... Too many would argue that one drink does nothing to them, has no effect, some say 2 or 3 drinks. Some of them are right, regular drinkers may have a much higher tolerance than a non regular drinker.
It would take a strong government to try to bring that in.
In defense of having a reasonable limit, it is interesting to note that the average BAC (In the US) among fatally injured drinking drivers is .16 THREE times OVER our limit. They tend to tend to be male, aged 25-35, and have a history of DWI convictions and polydrug abuse.
