Question Earnings

Has anyone any idea how much you would have as take home pay p/w if you were earning A$40,000 - 50,000. Just interested as that seems to be the bracket that my potential earnings fall into looking at job web-sites. Is this enough to live on?
Cheers

where are you planning to live as that will be a factor. The cost of living will vary from state to state, city to city and there would even be a difference between city and country.

We live in a country town in Victoria and that wage means we live quite comfortably. We don't need private health insurance, but that is something you would definitely want if you were living in the city. All our parking around town is free....not so in the cities, and endless other factors.

If you go to www.gomatilda.co.uk they have a cost of living calculator that will probably give you a good idea.

Well as seeing as that is about the same if not a bit more than the average wage, you should be able to live comfortably on it. Depends how you spend your money and also on if you have kids and other family allowances etc.

$40000 is 612 take home a week
$50000 is 746 take home a week

This does not include any deductions etc.

There is a tax calculator on the ATO web site. In fact there are several, one will give you the info you're after.
