DVDs from Amazon

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had ordered something from Amazon in the Uk, and what the service and cost of delivery was like to WA.

Thank you.

Re: DVDs from Amazon

From what I remember they don't quote rates to Oz. I order stuff from them occasionally, and find its easier to get it delivered to UK family, who then post it over when sending other stuff. :)

What are you ordering from Amazon? There are equivalent websites in Oz (not Amazon I know, but books cds dvd sites). Would it not be cheaper to order from one of them, instead of paying the shipping from UK to Oz?

Cheers,
JTL

I use UK Amazon, they ship to Oz and they automatically deduct VAT form any items that would have had VAT in the UK.

Thanks for your replies.

I'm trying to get hold of the DVD boxset of Series 3 of the programme 24. I would normally get it sent to the UK and then get them to send it on, but I would prefer not to this time, and I also have a 10 pound voucher to use so thought that may cover the postage. Have tried JB Hifi in Perth & Osborne Park and neither have it in stock.

I was looking for a couple of books and CD's the other night and to have them posted to Australia worked out at approx twelve quid each. Amazon have a worldwide shipping calculator on their site. Australia is included in the rest of the world category.
Some good equivalents here in Australia are;

SeekBooks
http://www.seekbooks.com.au/

Angus & Robertson (Bookworld)
http://www.angusrobertson.com.au/

Co-Op
http://www.coop-bookshop.com.au/

Collins Booksellers
http://www.collinsbooks.com.au/

Dymocks
http://www.dymocks.com.au/

and a long list more at:

Just looked at the Dymocks one and it seems to be just books - or am I looking in the wrong place?

Maybe if we all email Amazon they'll set up an Australian office! :)

Dymocks IS just a bookstore. I think the general point was you can get the equivalent service of amazon by using a few different sites.

It is really weird that amazon couldn't be bothered setting up here. I wonder if they have any plans to open here, or their logic behind not doing so?

Any ideas?

Yes, you'd think Amazon would get in there as there seems a bit of a gap in the market!

Oh, and we won't take it personally that just as a load of us are coming out, you are heading back - albeit for a short time :p

Hi, try www.dstore.com.au
they have 24 the third series collection, 7 discs for $69.80. Not sure what p&p is but it's got to be cheaper than from the UK.
