Dump the estate agent
Hi,We`ve recently sold our house using property broker on the net.Found it a great service and did`nt have to deal with poxy estate agents.Sorry there must be some good agents out there but Ive never met any.Property broker charged us £97 and advertised it on fish4homes,rightmove and a few others .They leave it on until you sell and no hidden extra`s,saved us around £3600 which is lots of aussie dollars and an awful lot of the amber nectar. jockney:beer:

Interesting to hear that you sold your house without an agent.
A few questions for you; Did you get agents around first to value the house? Did you know roughly what you should get for your property and did you get many viewings? We are thinking of selling ourselves as we would have to pay around £6000 to sell our house. The dilemma is, we have a very expensive property 500k, do people look for this sort of price bracket on the net? It is only worth it if you dont lose the agents fees by getting a lower offer price. Any thoughts? |

Any thoughts? It's a lovely house and not over priced, in fact currently under priced as she really wants to sell. But I do know that the upper priced houses sometimes take a very long time to sell. Just something to bear in mind when you come to sell!!! |
Originally posted by pudnut Regarding expensive property.... It can take quite a while to sell houses in the upper price range, the average population don't have that amount to spend therefore you are not going to get hoards of people veiwing and fighting for it,whether you put it on with estate agents or the net. My Mother inlaw has spent the last 2 years trying to sell her 750k house, has gradually dropped the asking price in order to get a sale, is currently at 550k and still no sensible offers!! It's a lovely house and not over priced, in fact currently under priced as she really wants to sell. But I do know that the upper priced houses sometimes take a very long time to sell. Just something to bear in mind when you come to sell!!! From several years in the Estate Agents business I would advise you MIL to not go to a local agent for her sale but to go for an agent that specialises in the higher range of houses. They all use the net and the better magazines. We used to deal with £1m houses several miles away from the offices but the price was the factor |
I am glad to hear someone else has not used an estate agent, i was thinking of marketing my home myself, here in Scotland prices are no where near as high but we have made a substantial profit as we rennovated it. I was going to put up posters, have a selected few days open viewing.
Do you have the name of the property broker you used Jockney ? Carrianne |
