A while ago I was also stumped by what this might mean and Googled "LOL". I found this fascinating link on PC World. NetLingo It gives a lot of info on Netiquette too. A whole new world has opened for me ;-)

Please, kindly let me in on what 'LOL' means. I know you all use it, perhaps because you know each other well and maybe it should be obvious to me but I have been racking my brains for weeks and can't work it out. I'm a bit shy and have wanted to ask for ages but thought maybe it will become clear but 'eureka' hasn't happened. I have, therefore, taken the plunge and possible humiliation of having to ask.

Please be easy on me?

And empathy to all who are waiting and waiting. It's driving me mad and from what I read here, I know I am not alone.

Cheers.

Dont' worry Kitty4, I had to ask my 12 yr old daughter to explain what it meant. I too thought it would click but it didn't and was too shy to ask on the forum!
