Dual Citizenship
Howdie and G'day!
So now I know that, as a result of a recent change in Australian law, I can become a U.S. citizen without losing my Australian citizenship. (Yeah!!!)
Next question:
My wife is a U.S. citizen, and we plan to move to Australia sometime sooner or later. Would she be able to become an Australian citizen (after 3 years ? in the country) without forfeiting her U.S. citizenship?
Thanks in advance!

I believe that once your wife holds permanent resident
status in Australia that she is eligible to apply
for citizenship after having that status for two years.
She will be able to become an Australian citizen
without losing her US citizenship. There are
a lot of people who believe that the US does not
allow dual citizenship, but they do. At one time,
US law was very restrictive against dual citizenship.
But several Supreme Court cases and State Department
policy changes have eliminated the restrictions.

P.S. I speak from experience myself, as I am a
native born US citizen, and I became a Canadian
citizen via naturalization a few years ago.
