Dry ski slopes in or around Melbourne

Hi all,

Bit of a strange question as most people are moving over for the sunshine but does anyone know of any indoor or outdoor ski slopes in the Melbourne area ? We all love skiing but our children race for the local ski club and regularly compete. My son is desperate to continue skiing and is at an advanced level so would love him to be able to join a local ski club if possible.
Any information would be appreciated :-)
Thanks

Nothing I know of, the closest sort of thing like that would be in Auckland, NZ. (Indoor ski slope)

I think the closest indoor is Dubai.

Oh no, i thought there would be some dry ski slopes to train on somewhere. I have read that there is one in Perth, may have to change areas as no skiing may well be a deal breaker :-(
Thanks for replying

Canada? Australia's not really known for its worldclass skiers. ;)

No, Auckland has Snowplanet, which is quite an impressive facility.

Cheaper to quicker to get to than Perth too.

Ha yes Canada would suit skiing but nothing else unfortunately :-)

Doesn't have to be an indoor slope, he trains weekly here on outdoor dry slope. So anywhere where he could train regularly would be good or be part of a ski club. thanks

There's snow in the Alps (Australian ones) in the winter but for the rest of the year the snow bunnies head off to https://www.skivictoria.com.au

The reason we chose Melbourne was the close proximity to the snow but bit shocked that there are no other options to train weekly or join race clubs.

No, not downhill and slalom but more for aerial skiers, snowboarders, a speed skater even but 5 winter olympics golds so no mugs. ;)

Australia actually receives more snow than Switzerland which is quite a well known 'unusual fact about Australia' BE'ers would know.

It's not at all close to the snow! If you want to be close to the snow, go for Cooma, there are a lot of snowboarders from there. But as a place in Australia to live - nah, not really. I should think Canberra might have better access but there are no ski slopes there either. Not known for its skiers is Australia
