Drought blamed for skyrocketing fruit and veg prices
This is just the tip of the iceberg.
(Sorry to repeat the joke but it is too bad to be left in one thread)

Fruit and vegetable wholesalers say the drought is to blame for the sharp increase in the price of fresh produce.
The drought has pushed the price of lettuce up by more than 30 per cent and stone fruit is selling for about $7 a kilogram.
The director of Country Fruit Distributors, Rocky Crisante, says a poor season in Victoria is causing prices in western New South Wales to rise.
"Lettuce has sustained a great margin, I'd say between 30 to 40 per cent," he said.
"Potatoes have held their price for a long time, actually potatoes are one of the most useful vegetables and it's stayed up for a long time.
"Cauliflower, broccoli and beans have been going up for a while, but they haven't been up all the time."

Here in SE QLD they have been advertising efresh.com.au on the radio. This has just reminded me to look it up, and yes, they have lettuce at $1.99.
