Default Driving from Queensland to Melbourne

Has anyone ever done this? I've never been to either place and can't imagine what it'll be like, except that I know it'll be a looooonnnnnng drive! We'll be in Queensland for a week, then driving to Melbourne over 3 days, stopping over twice en route. Any recs for where we should stay on first stop? Sydney will be the second.

Thanks

Hi Sparkley,

We have a friend who lives 2hrs south of Brisbane and regularly drives this trip. He says it takes approx 22-24hrs straight driving and he goes the inland route through from NSW to Vic via Aldbury Wadonga. The coastal route takes longer.

We will be doing this route at christmas but will take a lot more time.
