driving from Noosa to Byron Bay

I have arranged to drive from Brisbane to Noosa vis the Australian Zoo, then stay in Noosa and the following day take the long road down to Byron bay and stay there for the night.

Can anyone give me any recommendations on what to see while driving down the coast ? Must see's must places to eat ? etc

As we wouldn't want to miss stuff.

Cheers

Brisbane Noosa

Suggested Itinery ...

Head North out of Brisbane ... once you are on the Bruce Highway keep going until you see the Glass House Mountains Scenic Route turn off. Follow that Road and you should eventually drive past Australia Zoo.

When done there press on along the road and eventually at Landsborough you will meet up with the Bruce again. A few hundred yards after re-joining the Bruce there is a turn off which will take you to the Etamogah Pub (looks like it came outta a Desperate Dan comic strip). There's a cool place next door sells all kinda wooden stuff.

Rejoin the Bruce and head North ... DON'T Take the Sunshine Motorway turnoff to Noosa but follow the Bruce. Take the Nambour turn off and visit the Big Pineapple plantation. You can do a tour there or merely buy a couple of cheap fresh big pineapples.

Double back to the Bruce ... head North again all the way to the Eumundi turn off (there's a market in Eumundi on Sat mornings)

Head from Eumindi to Noosa via Noosaville.

Check out Noosa (Walk along the National Park for splendid views)

Leave Noosa heading South via Coolom (a bit like Uluru by the Ocean - Uluru that's Ayer's Rock) and take in the Coastal Drive via Mooloolaba and Maroochydore and finally get to Caloundra for Sundown. Have a BBQ overlooking Bribie Island.

Take the Road back to the Bruce and head South to Brisbane.

.....

Of course I haven't told you to go North from Noosa to Tin Can Bay and feed a Dolphin ... i haven't told you to check out the Mountain towns of Maleny and Montville in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. I haven't suggested you BBQ along the Noosa River .. I havent told you to visit Superbee and taste twenty different types of Aussie Honey.

You can't do too much in a day !
