Default driving licence in tasmania

Hi,
does anyone know if you have to retake your driving test if you settle in Tasmania?
Harry.

So to avoid having to take a driving test, you land in NSW (or QLD etc), swap the UK licence for a NSW one, (with just a theory test), then go to TAS, and swap the NSW one for a TAS one

Unless Tasmania get around to implementing the national recognition scheme for overseas licences in the meantime

They're in competition with the Northern Territory for the slowest jurisdiction - every other state/territory in Australia now gives proper recognition to UK licences.

And Tasmania is supposed to *want* migrants to settle there.

Many states (incl NSW) let you keep a UK licence, but they endorse it to make it invalid in Australia.

Jeremy, you may not know just how true you are re: slowest when it comes to Tasmania. They are easily the slowest drivers in Australia, 70 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
