driving licence points transferred?????
Like a pillock I whizzed through a speed camera on way home from work the other day!!! Three points are soon to be added to my pure and virginal driving licence!!!! Will these automatically be transferred to my new Oz one, until the 4 years is up and they are wiped off? Or will my new Oz licence revert me back to a pure and virginal driver???!!

Hi
Zactly same thing happened to me before we came out. Plus I got a parking ticket and someone broke my window just weeks before we came!!!
I had to state which convistions I had when I got my Aussie Liscence but I don't think they count here.
(I hope)

Not that I had any points, but Transport Queensland in Brisbane seemed
not to be interested. They hardly managed to fully unfold my old style
Welsh licence. They would not however transfer over my other vehicle
classes - you get car only. A new 2 part one and they would probably
be happy with only the photo id part.
You still have to pass the theory test ($15 a try) then buy a licence
(~$58 for 5 years).
One side issue that may interest, young drivers in QLD have a
probation period of 6 months before they can drive solo - even if they
pass the test on the same day as they can start driving (16yrs 6 mo),
but an overseas provisional starts the six month clock from its date
of issue - well worth getting one if you are including a teen in your
party.

I'm still sore many years later at getting done for 78 on the motorway in Scotland. An empty motorway in fine weather about midday. Guess the boys in blue would have waved me on with a caution if I had a Glasgie accent. Seems like everybody does 80 on most CROWDED motorways whenever I'm in the UK so not sure why I had to get those points.
Roll on the 100kph max limit coming up soon, everybody, (I think that's 62.5mph).
Cheers - Don

The good news is that you may not get the letter at all - at any one time only about 50% of the older (Gatso) film based cameras are actually fully operational (though most still flash).
Of course, if it was one of the new digital cameras you'll have been caught.
As the man says - Do you feel lucky?

I'm sure you wouldn't, but don't be temped to ignore it as you're leaving the country.
You could end up with a very nasty greeting on your first visit back to the UK!

QLD Transport would only do Car for me, I don't have bike and was
pushing for light truck, mini-bus and all the other stuff I've
collected over the years without trying.
Clearly can't speak for the other 8 states (in joke, ACT is the 8th &
NZ is the 9th state).
NZ did not offer me anything but car when I moved there in '92, but I
did not ask either.
