Default drive or fly from sydney to canberra?

Hi, we are moving out to aus next year and im joining the RAAF. we will be bringing our 2 dogs with us and have a question. We will be spending our first 6 months in canberra and the dogs will be in quarantine in sydney and will need to move the dogs back to canberra once they have cleared.

So the question remains, is it best to fly them again or is it driveable?

cheers

You can fly them to Canberra but you will pay big bucks if they are unaccompanied. Driving is so much easier. It is dual carriageway all the way from Canberra to Sydney with regular stopping points to get out and stretch your legs. The journey should only take you about 3 hours each way. The return journey will be great to get reaquainted with your dogs after 6 months quarantine.

Nah, unless you are incredibly rich, driving is fine - only just under the 3 hours to get to Sydney nowadays - not a single traffic light once you get on the highway (just remember to turn left after the Goulburn turn off). It is a very boring road but it is a good road all the way and you can just switch on the cruise control to 110 and let the car do its thing. Many Canberrans just pop up to Sydney for the day or in the case of some of us mad ones for the afternoon

By the time you've driven to the airport, parked, checked in and gone through security you could probably be in Canberra already. Last time I flew the flight was delayed 90 minutes (fog at Canberra EVERY morning!!!) and I really wished I'd driven. Plus you have to travel on one of those cramped propellor jobs which is so small they take your bag off you if it's bigger than an oxo cube and call it "priority hand luggage" and so you have nothing to read except the emergency card.

Drive.
