downloading my oz pics while in oz?

downloading my oz pics while in oz?
Hi there i am in oz backpacking and im carrying around a portable mp3/dvd/photo player etc and its got 80gb hard drive i have all my pics stored on it and from time to time i have copied the pics to cd.
But i was wondering as the item could get stolen or lost and also the cds i was wondering is there any good websites out there i can download my pics to so when i get home they are still there and safe.
As i have been so many places and done so many things i would not want to lose this i have a usb cable the plugs into the maching so i suppose all i need is a computer and the internet.
I have well over a thousand so how long would this take to download them and can anyone give me so good places to store them,im sure my player will be safe etc but who knows maybe the hard drive could stop working or something and lose my pics.

Or get a Google mail account free with 1 Gigabyte space so plenty of room for Pics.
