Double check insurance when using removals eg; Doree Bonner
Just a word of warning when using removals to ship your belongings over to Aus, double check and re check your insurance and what you are covered with. I am just stating this as we had a bad experience with Doree Bonner's Insurance when making a claim in Australia on our personal belongings that was broke and ruined.
We had many personal items broke and ruined some silly mistakes by the packers in UK, by putting sticky tape direct onto wooden items, then when unpacked all marked and ruined.
When we came to claim for these items, we were told we had to go out and find someone to come out and assess our damages. When you arrive in a strange country the last thing you want to be doing is trying to find a loss adjuster to come and assess your damages, we didnt know where to start!
You only have a set time to find these people, so upsetting enough when you see all your personal items damaged without the upset of trying to find someone to come out and look at them. When we contacted Doree Bonner direct they just shrugged us off onto another insurance company, quick to take our money, but not willing to help.
The insurance would only cover half the price of the items ruined, so no chance of renewing these items, again very upsetting. We had expensive paintings smashed to bits and not a chance of ever replacing these items.
So a word of warning to people when taking out insurance, check if they will cover the costs, and if they have someone working with them in the country you are emigrating to who will come out and assess your breakages on their behalf.
Sorry Doree Bonner, but do feel that other people need to be aware when emigrating and not have the upset that we have had with your insurance company.

We are using 'A Letton Percival' for the insurance as its only 1.5% but just hope we don't have to make a claim eh!
