Default Done the deed...

Finally the day I had been waiting for arrived and I handed my notice in last night. Only 11 shifts left

It sure is a good feeling.

Response from my colleagues has been fairly positive on the whole. Several have said they expect to see me back within 12 months, they may be right! My manager has been great, she offered me 12 months unpaid leave in case it doesnt work out. I didnt accept this though as I felt it would show a lack of commitment.
The downside for my colleagues is that my position will be frozen for the rest of the financial year as my trust needs to save money so their workload will increase for a while, thats why I'm putting off telling them how soon I'm going.
