dolphins in queensland
 

will be validating visas end of july and have promised kids they can feed the dolphins.any info on this will be greatly appreciated.also,how far north do you have to go at that time of year to guarantee decent weather.cheers

I would reccomend a few days at Tangalooma, a wild dolphin resort just off the coast of Brisbane on Moreton Island.


It is a great place to get over the jet-lag and chill out, and you can feed the wild dolphins every night there.

thanks for the link.it looks great.any idea if 2 days is enough time to spend there with 8 and 4 yr old boys or will they have had enough by then.

You can also go to Tin Can Bay to see the Dolphins, they come in everyday to the beach also and you dont have to pay for it unlike Tangalooma, we were advised to go there instead, here is a link to a website giving you some info, it would save a couple of days on Moreton if you are a bit pushed for time

Also Sea World in Surfers Paradise have Dolphins too that you can get into the water with, but I have a feeling you need to be at least 5 to get in. Hope this helps.

July is the middle of winter here. Expect Brisbane to be around 20 degrees during the day and a lot colder at night, even into single digits. Even as far north as Cairns you would only get temps of max 25 during the day.

That place looks brill, me and my family are out that way in august and will be paying that place a visit.

Gold Coast is a comfortable 20 degrees plus during the day.... warm enough to sunbathe and get in the pool & sea as holidaymakers!!! We certainly did when we were here on holiday last year!! It gets cooler during the evening and is dark by 5.15 but a cardi will be fine. Gold Coast doesnt have the humidity Cairns has. We flew from Brizzie to Cairns last Aiugust and I felt like someone had slapped me in the face with a wet flannel when I stepped off the plane!!!

We went across to Tangalooma for a few days a couple of years back. Its a short (one hour?) ferry ride from the port of Brisbane.

The dolphins come in every evening for feeding, which the kids (3 and 8 at the time) absolutely loved. Also common to see pods swimming in the bay, and chasing fish under the pier.

The only downside is that its a little on the expensive side, accomodation wise, and your a bit of a captive audience for the restaurants etc. But other than that brilliant.

We were sat in a local cafe in Raby Bay in Cleveland and 3 swam in while we were there, amazing.

There is a cafe in Tin Can Bay that does dolphin feeding twice a day, when we went it was free (which is rare in Oz) we were on our way up to Harvey Bay and wanted to see what a place called Tin Can Bay looked like. Its the only cafe there so not hard to find its only twice a day I think so you may want to do a google search to check out the times etc.

We also did the Tangalooma resort and the boys loved it, the villa when we went was bit run down but since then they have built new villas which look a lot nicer and the beach was wonderful that white white sand.
