Dog shipping and transport from UK to Perth anyone done this?

Hi we are emigrating to be with family in Perth and have decided to take our beloved dog, I have found all the info from the Australian website with step by step guide
http://www.agriculture.gov.au/cats-d...guide-for-dogs
Can anyone tell me if we can arrange our own transport or do we need to use a company?
Has anyone done this and got any advice?
Any idea on costing? Spoke to local vet who said allow £400 for vet stuff here, still need transport and quarrantine costs dont have to be exact...
Thankyou

It varies a LOT by the breed and size of the dog. Also, you will need to arrange to get it from the east coast to Perth as there is no quarantine in Perth.

I have seen a number of people run into major problems with this and would highly recommend speaking to a specialist such as Pet Air

Hi
Its a pretty expensive and time consuming process although now the quarantine times in Australia for a pet from the UK are much less than they were. We brought two x old english sheepdogs out in 2013 and used Pet Air UK (highly recommended - their website will tell you all you need to know). It cost us just under £7000 for the two (using Pet Airs Gold Service) and that doesn't incl the costs on the Australian side.

Its a straightforward enough process but easy to slip up trying to do it yourself so definitely worth using a service like Pet Air. Good luck

they keep changing the rules!
I've bought my dog over twice!!
it was different both times, but I did do all the paperwork myself. It's tedious, but not difficult.
Transport depends on size of dog (35kg Weimaraner) airfare was 2455GBP.
Plus cost of crate. (if you are local to Heathrow, you can go the animal pick up and blag the right size from arriving dog familY!)
Vets fees are about 400GBP all in and quarantine... although only 10 days now in Australian costs more than when it was 30 days (go figure!!)

You can call AQIS direct and they will help you with paperwork if you get mixed up (they were brilliant!). Scanning and emailing is the best way to go as you don't need to get everything signed as copies (same as online scanning for visa application)

Make sure that your vet knows when Vaccination he needs to omit and know that you need 6 months for the rabies and titre testing to be done before the dog travels.
