Default Dog Kennels in NZ

We have 3 dogs, 2 suffer from anxity when they are away from us. We left them in a respectable kennel once and my bullmastif went for a young kennel maid, she has never bitten before :? Also one of the Staffordshire Bull Terriers cried constantly.

Since then they have been going to an expectional kennels, the owner has 14 dogs of his own and he is a trainer, all his staff are trained by him and they all know how to deal with dogs with problems like mine have. The kennels are not only heated but also air conditioned (not important though), but when I go to collect them they are in great condition and you never hear a load of dogs yaping away.

I would be greatful for anybodys experiences on kennels around Dunedin or even Christchurch could be an option

No experience but kennels certainly exist around Dunedin (seen'em). NZ'ers don't exactly have a love affair with dogs, though - I imagine there isn't that big a choice of kennels as there are far fewer dogs here in the first place.

My partner and I have a one year old Rottweiler(we found him after emigrating), and our fellow expat friends have a mature German Shephard(who they brought with from the US).

Our Kiwi friends with cats/dogs have recommended Bunny Lodge in suburban Christchurch.

We have used them(as have all of our friends) extensively when we're away.

Jodi and I have placed Ajax there on a number of occasions and it has worked out great.

Since Ajax is like a kid to us...we're pretty picky.....they've never let us down......the owners are expats too(a great couple from Scotland).

Be advised......it can be a challenge getting a kennel slot over the holidays.....be sure to book well in advance regardless of the kennel you use.

For more details...feel free to email or PM.

Cheers,

Chris
