Not sure if this is what you meant but if you are a permanent resident you will get child care benefit/child care rebate and family tax benefit part A and B - some of these are subject to income level.

They are all means tested.

Centerlink may be able to give you a carer allowance if the child is disabled, however some visas have a no claim period for either 2 or 10 years.

Why would you expect the government to help migrating families with children?
There are benefits for citizen/permanent resident families as the others have mentioned

I don’t mean to be too harsh here, but why should the government give benefits’ to migrants? We want people to come here and contribute to the country, not suck it dry.
Seriously, if people can’t afford to have children then they shouldn’t be having them; if migrants can’t afford to relocate their family then they shouldn’t be migrating.
My taxes already pay benefits’ to citizens here (some who need it and some who bludge), which can already be a bit annoying, the last thing I want is for it to be handed out to migrants who just came here looking for handouts!

Unfortunately it doesnt work like that in reality - the UK is rife with corruption in the benefits sector and for AU just take a look at the handouts at Christmas Island.

Depending on your family income and your type of visa, you will be entitled to the following benefits to take care of costs of raising your child:
Family Tax benefits - A & B
Rent Assistance
Child care benefit

Hope this helps...

Typical, the only thing we ever got for our kids and now Ruddy's taken that away too. I think we may have got the baby bonus for two of them actually, which was non means tested at that time.
