Cool Does anyone remember the quote you received from Removal agents???

Hi Guys,
Wondering if anyone remember how much you had been quoted for moving your stuff to Australia?I have got a quote of around 2200 GBP for around 500 Cubic ft(around 20ft container),without Marine insurance and Items Insurance?Does it sound reasonable?

Many Thanks,
Jo

Thumbs up Re: Does anyone remember the quote you received from Removal agents???

Door to door shipping with Allied Pickfords: £2,165.00 for half a shared container and single-day collection on our actual departure date.

Insurance with Letton Percival: £229.00.

Thats dirt cheap. Mine was about £3200 with Fox,s Moving and everybody else came out dearer. That was in 2010 for a 20ft container. Who is that with?

I also used http://www.insure-your-move.com/ for insuring the container. Far easier to sort out and you can do it on line costs about £200 depending on how much you want to insure your belongings for. No excess as well. Take a look

mine was Anglo Pacific - guess I'll collect a few more

Thanks Jo

Edit - sorry, should point out that 500 cu ft is around 1/2 a 20ft container - total volume is around 1000 / 1100 depending on void spaces on 20ft so you may have shared container

Thanks OS..I wasn't mentioned anything about shared container, guess it might very well be the case.Originally I had intentions to bring my car as well and then changed my mind..With the car it was about 1100 on top of that..Thanks again-

Very cheap for a 20ft container, as someone has suggested they may well have quoted for you sharing a container.

We paid 3800GBP last year from Northants to Brisbane and this was Robinson's price matching Pickford's for a 20 foot container.

about 2000 GBP ..... Robinsons ... not the cheapest but they were the only ones who would not lie about door to door time. All others tried to fob me off with 40 days. Robinsons were honest and in the end correct

£3,074 for a 20ft reefer from Herts to GC with John Mason.

Edit: Almost exactly 7 years ago. Prices haven't changed drastically have they?

Definitely ask about this as it will affect the length of time door-to-door, shared containers take more time as they will have a consolidation period whilst they collect the other customers items.

500cuft is about half a 20ft container so shared containers would definitely be the recommended service if price was your priority over speed of delivery.
