...Does anybody know about gifts of money. I'll explain:

I am selling my car to my Dad, yet, I don't need the money just yet, and he hasn't got the money yet. So, could he give me the money in Aus$ when he visits after the six months tax free period. It will be about $6500.

If you use it to buy groceries or beer or spend it on entertainment who's ever going to know that's assuming he brings you cash or trav.cheques.

You can of course bring up to 10 k in cash into the country without declaring it.
