- Clean
- Pretty
- Family-friendly
- Big enough to have all the things you need
- Well laid out and easy to navigate (planned city, designed on a foursquare terrace)
- Conveniently close to the eastern states
- House prices are still relatively cheap
- Very affordable property in the outer suburbs and semi-rural towns, all of which have good access to the city via highways & freeway

Re: Does anybody have anything nice to say about Adelaide please
Wow thank you.
After just reading the first bit of a thread "Coming to Adelaide" my heart sunk and all the plans and dreams of the last year and a bit seemed like a waste. But then I carried on reading and thought ok one opinion.
We had been a bit worried about coming on a SIR visa as I had heard that employers were reluctant to take people on unless they had full residency.
After reading about the crime - but that happens everywhere even on a small Island like where we live.
Property -from what I have seen seems fantastic, but are there any areas to avoid? One of the reasons why we want to move is the current price for a tiny three bedroomed terraced house is £420,000!!!
We met some Aussies from NSW on holiday this year and when we told them where we were going they pulled a face!!
Well we are still really keen for Adelaide -to me what you just said seems perfect - they way of life, country, beaches and a good city.
Thank you

I'll second what the rest have said.
I don't know why there has been a bit of Adelaide "bashing" recently.
it is quieter than the other major cities of Oz but we prefer it that way!!!
I suppose it depends on where you have lived in the UK.

South Aus is thought of as a backwater and underdeveloped by other states.
I'm asked by interstaters why I chose to live here.
I reply that they have never lived in the the UK and fail to appreciate it here

We lived in Melbourne prior to moving to Adelaide, when people knew we were coming here there were so many negative comments we really wondered if we were doing the right thing, 8 months in and we love it, wish we'd come straight here instead of wasting 9 months in melbourne. For us it has everything we need/want. it's smaller compared to the other cities, easier to navigate, it's a LOT friendlier and quieter, the people have a more laid back attitude and house prices are pretty good.
Rivalry between states can be quite intense, i'd take anything said with a pinch of salt.
