which documents in your luggage?

Trying to sort out what we need to take in hand luggage, main luggage and container.
looking at previous posts, seems a good idea to take software discs, reference from bank, no claims proof etc.
what documentation would/did you take? whuch luggage did it go in?
Mr Bazfer will have a job already. we will need to rent a house and buy a car. we have 3 little children.
don't know how much of that info is needed, but you have it now!:D

We had one case of hand luggage that was just paperwork etc including:

driving licences,
professional certificates,
kids immunisation certificates,
ref from bank,
no claims bonus letters,
employment references,
birth, marriage certs etc,
kids red medical thingy books,
all info re shipment,
extra passport photos,

essential software for the laptop,

Hope this helps

Claire's right - make a pile of all your paperwork and go through it putting aside all the VITAL things to take as carry-on baggage. Then add the things that aren't quite as vital, but are "sensitive" such as bank statements (for references purposes) and so on. You'll be surprised how heavy it's got!

DON'T even think of putting anything like birth certificates etc into the hold. Sod's law applies: if any bag goes AWOL it will be that one.

and get some photocopies of your passports as you will be asked for these loads of times when setting up utilities and tax and banks.I carried all our important stuff I just wasnt prepared to take the risk of it going missing enroute

It is surprising how heavy your paperwork is. Our case was bang on 7kg!!

I also took receipts in my hand luggage for some key items that were in the shipment - then if customs wanted proof of purchase or age on anything being shipped, I had the docs to hand (they din't ask for anything by the way)
