Default Doctors and Medical Records

Hi all

do we have to "register" with a doctor here in Oz (in the same way we do in UK)
or do we just pick any Doctor local to us ? If so, where do medical records
get stored - on a central computer somewhere accessible by any doctor ?

Thanks

Neil

No- you dont need to officially register, u can go to many doctors at the one time.

However, I advise that you do register, cos occasionally some practices dont have any room for new patients.

You medical records remain in the UK -ask for a computer summary printout of them from your practice - tho it's unlikely that you'll need even that for your new dr in Oz.

Good luck with everything.

Thanks Ozzidoc

what I mean is, do we get a new set of medical records kept somewhere,
so that say we had a prescription issued by some doctor, a year or so
later, could another doctor could see that prescription had been issued from our records somewhere ?

Thanks

Neil
