Doctor in Chatswood, NSW
Hi
I don't suppose anyone knows of a good family doctor in Chatswood? I really miss the website world of the UK. There are no doctor websites over here! How to choose?? I need to get my daughters vaccinations done in order to register her for school. Thanks

I saw a GP in chatswood chase shopping Mall medical centre last week I thought she was very good my first time there.
She was spot on very please with her & was seen immediately only sat there less than 5 mins & that was because I was filling up the forms.

Dr Renata Chapman and colleagues at 214 Victoria Avenue. Very professional, (hence don't bulk bill). Beware of bulk billing corporate doctor practice nearby.

I don't quite see the relationship between being "professional"and not bulk-billing?

Re: Doctor in Chatswood, NSW
I didn't mean to cast aspersions on the good bulk billing GPs out there. Just my observation from working with many GP practices over the last decade or so, that those who are in demand don't need to bulk bill, and often opt out, to charge what they think is a realistic fee for their services. I don't see many dentists, lawyers or vets (or medical specialists for that matter) who will charge $35 for a 20 minute consultation. That's what GPs get from Medicare. The corporate GP practices can do this because they pressure their contractor docs to see up to 60 patients a day, and because they profit from the imaging and pathology tests, not to mention all the fees they get from sticking everyone on lucrative MBS-funded care plans whether they need them or not.
Hence I would be sceptical about any medical practice in an affluent area like the North Shore that is bulk billing (not just for pensioners etc). It doesn't mean they're bad, but I wouldn't be surprised if the GP starts glancing at the clock after you've been in there for more than 10 minutes.
