The Doctor
Is this a phenomenon that's exclusive to Fremantle or is it found along a larger part of the WA coast?

I think its found along most of the coastline...well I can't speak for all of it, but you do get it down here in Rockingham. It can be a pain but in the summer you usually are praying for it to come in...it's a blessed relief on a hot day!!! LOL

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse anyone. We went on a tram tour of Fremantle when we visited and the driver was saying how the Doctor came to have its name. Fremantle is apparently the third most windy city in the world (after Chicago and the second most windy city which I can't remember now - you can tell I wasn't paying attention! ) and it has this phenomenon called the Doctor. It's so called because back when Fremantle was colonised, the ladies of the day frequently used to faint and swoon in the heat from being dressed in all their hot, long-skirted garb, but they recovered after a visit from the Doctor - the strong, on-shore wind that blew up every afternoon.
Sounds like blessed relief to me!
