Hi all,

I was wondering wether my large DVD collection will get warped/ruined by the extreme heat of crossing the equator on its route to Australia.

Is there anything the shippers can do to protect them from the heat?.

Thanks in advance.

Hiya 65k,

We just bought a folder that holds 240 dvds/cds whatever and we are packing the dvds in our luggage..not because of the heat but the kids will miss their disney films at bedtime!! We have got one of those portable dvd players so they will be able to watch them in the holiday let before the stuff arrives. It's not a huge folder and quite flat so it won't take up much room - just a thought! - I got it off ebay

I used masses of bubble wrap with no problems, and shipped approx 200 CDs, lots of videos, and a pile of computer discs. No problem with any of it.
Even a few candles that were in with the kitchen stuff got here in the same shape they left in.

We brought lots of DVDs etc as well with no problems.

Talking about heat in the container, when we unpacked our digital thermometer the maximum temp it got to was 45C!!! that shows you how hot it got inside the container. But even with that heat all our candles etc were still ok

No they're more interested in foodstuffs, dirty shoes and wooden items.

Do UK DVD players work in Oz??

I'm concerned as I have tons of DVDs, including my much prized X-Files collection, and worried that I may not be able to watch them if our machine doesnt work over there as they are all Region 2.!

Find out if yours is multi region. Thats all you need. If it's not you can get software from Ebay that will convert it. Then you can play any region on it!

My understanding is that if you take your DVD player (region 2) to OZ then you will be able to play your DVDs (region 2) on it. If however you buy a DVD in OZ then it won't play on your DVD player. Your best best is enable multi-region on your DVD (it is possible on most). Do a search on here and you should find a link which someone posted up last week about finding out how your particular make can be converted to multi-region.

Alternatively sell your DVD player here and when you get to OZ buy a multi-region DVD player

Thank you!

In actual fact have just had an email from somebody from Ebay who I was going to buy "Priscilla" DVD from offering to make mine multi-region.

Guess it's worth doing then... thanks again
