do you use it as much as you thought?

Well we've all heard about (nearly) everyone wanting one and how it'll be fantastic and the kids'll love it, but has anyone got a swimming pool and find that its now just collecting leaves and mould cos its just not worth the bother or that you're not dipping in before breakfast like you thought you would or is it in constant use and you cant imagine life without one......
just thought I'd ask.... :)

Depends where you are going.

Probably not worth it in SA or Victoria as they have much shorter hot spells.

May be worthwhile in NT or northern QLD.

In between depends on your wealth and preference.

We use ours daily between about October and Feb, but it will now sit unused for a good 5/6 months but still requires maintenance, salt etc. It still feels worth it at the moment but its only our second year, the novelty may wear off.

We are in VIC - our pool is only useable say Nov - Mar on the warm - hottest days. As water buffers temp quite well we only need the occasional 30 degree day to maintain it at the 20 degree minimum I have moreorless set as my ''minimum swim'' temp. I used to leave work early and have a swim on many a day.

Kids still use ours when the sun is out. Bless them! Too cold for me. Getting it solar heated is not as expensive as I would have thought, couple of grand, so that is on the wish list along with a zillion other things.
Our hot tub/spa/jacuzzi is still used regularly! Esp. when the kids are in bed, nothing better than drinking a bottle of bubbly with the wife overlooking Brisbane without kids nagging! Mind you, freezing when you get out!

We used it less this year than last but still used it a lot. I wouldn't want a house without a pool.

We just got our pool before easter, its solar heated so we are still happily swimming in it. I swam on the weekend, & its gotta be warm for me to use it!!

Dagboy swears that he will be using it all year, but now that its turned a bit cool, I'll believe that when I see it ;) .
